The Wrap #41: Anything Is Possible When You're Lying

There’s a certain flavor of LinkedIn influencer who really wants you to know they’re not like the rest of us. They wake up at 3:30AM, meditate, hit the gym, write in a leather-bound journal, ice-bathe their stress away, and post a moody video with inspirational music to tell you all about it. #NoExcuses #DisciplineWins
Somehow, we’ve decided these people are business visionaries. We idolize them as the next Elon Musk or Steve Jobs, prophets of productivity whose only flaw is that they're just too committed to success. But ask yourself, is this what you really want?
Musk gives Nazi salutes and takes jobs away from civil servants. He disowned his transgender daughter. Jobs was notoriously hard to work with, also had a daughter that he wouldn't acknowledge, and was so arrogant that he thought he could cure cancer by eating fruit.
Here's the truth about most of these "visionaries." They either already have money, or support systems, that let them operate in a bubble where the only person they have to plan for is themselves. There’s no daycare run, no night shift, no aging parent to check in on. Just a perfectly staged morning routine and a ring light.
It’s time we stop glorifying grind culture as the blueprint for greatness. Rest is not weakness. A normal start time is not a character flaw. And working 16 hours a day isn’t noble, it’s unsustainable. Rise and grind? I’d rather sleep and function.
